Supporting Your Child During Mid-Term Break: A Parent’s Guide to Balance, Bonding & Reset

As Rophine International learners continue their mid-term break this week, and with our CBE learners set to follow next week, this is a timely opportunity for parents to intentionally support their children beyond academics.

Mid-term is a critical reset moment in a busy school term.

For parents of boarders, especially, this short time at home matters deeply. Children thrive when they feel emotionally secure.

Simple routines like shared meals, intentional conversations, tech-free family time, and moments of affirmation go a long way in replenishing their emotional reserves before they return to school.

When learners return to boarding school feeling drenched in love, emotionally stable, and with strong values, they settle in faster and perform better.

Academically, light revision without pressure is key. Encourage your child to:

  • Review notes for short, focused intervals
  • Read a novel or engage in enriching material
  • Practice a few past-paper questions (especially for upper grades/years)
  • Maintain a gentle daily routine

Equally important is rest. Adequate sleep, outdoor activity, spiritual grounding, and peer bonding help regulate the mind and build resilience.

At Rophine, we believe excellence is built in the classroom and nurtured at home. Mid-term break is a partnership moment between school and family.

Let us use this time to restore, reconnect, and refocus so our learners return confident, balanced, and ready for a strong second half of the term.
