Exploring the Orchard: A Journey of Discovery for Little Learners

Every term brings new adventures and discoveries for young minds in the vibrant world of early childhood education. This term, our crèche class is going on a fun and academic farm adventure-themed “Our Little Orchard” which is set to spark curiosity and imagination as they dig into the bountiful world of fruits.

Throughout the term, our budding explorers will learn about the facts of various fruits grown in an orchard. The teachers will guide them through academic interactive sessions with fruits and other farm produce such as counting, sorting, and social interaction through simulating buying and selling.
These sessions will be in a show and tell set up to boost memory formation. During their classes, the learners will have the opportunity to share their favourite fruits with their peers, giving them a chance to explore self-expression and build confidence as they tell stories about why a particular fruit holds a special place in their hearts.

Later in the term, our young adventurers will visit a real orchard, where they will witness firsthand the magic of fruit cultivation, and explore with knowledgeable educators who will teach them about the intricate process of planting, nurturing, and harvesting fruits.

They’ll also get hands-on experiences such as picking ripe apples straight from the tree and feeling the velvety skin of peaches. This experience will help them deepen their understanding of where their favourite fruits come from and the effort involved in bringing them from the orchard to the table.

This is more than a physical trip, exploring orchids offers a sensory experience from the sweet scent of ripening fruits to the crunch of leaves underfoot. Such immersive experiences not only enrich learning but also create lasting memories that ignite a lifelong passion for nature and the environment.
